We have a lot of intelligent Catholics…
We have a lot of prayerful Catholics….
But there are very few Catholics who are converted.
From the Catchism of the Catholic Church #2013-15
“All Christians in any state or walk of life are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of charity. All are called to holiness. ‘Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.’ (Mt. 5:48)
“In order to reach the perfection the faithful should use the strength dealt out to them by Christ’s gift, so that … doing the will of the Father in everything, they may wholeheartedly devote themselves to the glory of God and to the service of their neighbor. Thus the holiness of the People of God will grow in fruitful abundance, as is clearly shown in the history of the Church through the lives of so many saints.” (Lumen Gentium 40.2)
“Spiritual progress tends toward ever more intimate union with Christ. this union is called ‘mystical’ because it participates in the mystery of Christ through the sacraments – ‘the holy mysteries’ and in him, in the mystery of the Holy Trinity. God calls us all to this intimate union with him, even if the special graces or extraordinary signs of this mystical life are granted only to some for the sake of manifesting the gratiuitous gift given to all.
The way of perfection passes by way through the Cross. There is no holiness without renunciation and spiritual battle. (2 Tm. 4) Spiritual progress entails the ascesis and mortifcation that gradually lead to living in the peace and joy of the Beatitudes.”
‘He who climbs never stops going from beginning to beginning, through beginning that have no end. He never stops desiring what he already knows.’ (St. Gregory Nyssa)
Remember children of Mary in God’s grace (that is those in the universal Church) she said…
“Dear children, My motherly heart suffers tremendously as I look at my children who persistently put what is human before what is of God; at my children who despite everything that surrounds them and despite all the signs that are sent to them, think that they can walk without my Son. They cannot! They are walking to eternal perdition. That is why I am gathering you, who are ready to open your heart to me, you who are ready to be apostles of my love, to help me, so that by living God’s love you may be an example to those who do not know it. May fasting and prayer give you strength in that and I bless you with my motherly blessing in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Thank you.” (3/2/11)
The glory of Jesus is God fully alive in man, obedient to the divine will and living the Commandments. The victory of Jesus over came the temptations of satan all the way to the passion and death on the Cross. The most supreme act of obedience to show the world HOW TO LOVE THE FATHER WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOU SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, is to live the Cross.
Keep the vision of the triumph before you on your walk through the desert….
